Provost鈥檚 Community Engagement Council

The Provost’s Community Engagement Council (CEC) at 果酱视频 serves as a strategic advisory group supporting the institutionalization of community engagement across teaching, research, and service. Convened by the Center for Community Engagement in partnership with the Office of the Provost, the Council brings together faculty, staff, and administrative leaders from across campus who champion community-engaged scholarship and civic learning.
Together, the Council advances 果酱视频’s commitment to public impact by informing policy, supporting professional development, and promoting institutional practices that align with the university’s mission and the Carnegie Community Engagement Classification framework.
What We Do:
- Advise on university-wide strategies for integrating community engagement into academic pathways.
- Support the development and implementation of CEL-designated courses.
- Guide efforts related to faculty development, scholarship, and tenure & promotion policies.
- Align community engagement practices with institutional goals and national standards.
- Serve as thought partners for CCE-led initiatives and events.
2025-2026 Council Priorities
The CEC's 2025–2026 priorities align with 果酱视频’s strategic plan and support the upcoming Carnegie Re-Classification submission.
Priority 1: Community Engagement Data Collection
Objective: Establish a university-wide system to collect and analyze data on community engagement courses and activities.
Key Actions:
- Implement a standardized method via 果酱视频 CUE for documenting engagement activities.
- Encourage departments to report:
- Courses with community engagement components
- Student participation data
- Community impact results
Outcomes:
- Create a comprehensive engagement database
- Use data to assess trends, effectiveness, and resource needs
- Promote a culture of data-informed decision-making
Priority 2: Institution-Wide CEL Course Designation
Objective: Formalize the Community-Engaged Leadership (CEL) designation to recognize courses with substantial engagement.
Key Actions:
- Form a task force to define CEL criteria and review process
- Develop guidance materials (FAQs, training sessions, etc.)
- Conduct awareness campaigns and faculty recognition strategies
Outcomes:
- Increase number of CEL-designated courses
- Encourage interdisciplinary course development
- Enhance 果酱视频’s visibility as a leader in community-engaged learning
Priority 3: Faculty Promotion and Tenure Policy Review
Objective: Ensure community-engaged scholarship is meaningfully recognized in faculty promotion and tenure evaluations.
Key Actions:
- Conduct a cross-college review of current promotion/tenure policies
- Establish a faculty-led task force to propose revisions
- Provide deans and chairs with resources to evaluate community engagement activities
Outcomes:
- Stronger support for engaged scholarship
- Broader faculty participation in community-based work
- Development of a reporting system to track engagement contributions
