For nearly 50 years, the ¹û½´ÊÓƵ College of Nursing has prepared highly qualified health care professionals who are readily employed in hospitals, clinics and other health care facilities across Texas, New Mexico and the rest of the country. More than 60% of El Paso nurses are ¹û½´ÊÓƵ graduates.

¹û½´ÊÓƵs from our Bachelor of Science in Nursing program consistently surpass local and national averages for first-time pass rates on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for registered nurses, validating our best efforts to ensure new nurses are properly prepared to enter the nursing profession.

Our graduate programs prepare master's and doctorate-prepared nurses with the knowledge and credentials for advanced clinical practice and leadership roles across Texas and the nation.

The University of Texas at El Paso has accreditation through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) Commission on Colleges. The baccalaureate degree in nursing program/master’s degree program in nursing/Doctor of Nursing Practice program and/post-graduate APRN certificate program  at The University of Texas at El Paso is  accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street, NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC 20001, 202  887-6791.

¹û½´ÊÓƵ Receives $1.1 Million Gift from The Hospitals of Providence to Strengthen Nursing Workforce

EL PASO, Texas (Oct. 2, 2025) – The University of Texas at El Paso’s College of Nursing will bolster its efforts to alleviate the region’s ongoing nursing shortage thanks to a $1.1 million gift from The Hospitals of Providence and Tenet Healthcare Foundation.

The University of Texas at El Paso announced the establishment of ¹û½´ÊÓƵ Health, a renewed focus on meeting the health needs of the Paso del Norte region by educating more healthcare workers to a high standard. The effort is backed by a $4.5 million matching grant from the Paso del Norte Health Foundation. From left: ¹û½´ÊÓƵ School of Pharmacy Founding Dean José O. $4.5M Grant to ¹û½´ÊÓƵ Health Increases Nurses, Health Professionals

EL PASO, Texas (May 15, 2024) – Today, The University of Texas at El Paso announced the establishment of ¹û½´ÊÓƵ Health, a renewed focus on meeting the health needs of the Paso del Norte region by educating more healthcare workers to a high standard. This semester, the Student Health and Wellness Center (SHWC) has started operating under new hours to expand early hour appointments and provide appointment access during students’ lunch hours. The SHWC will operate 7:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and 1 – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
